Monster II, above (oil on corrugated cardboard, 10″ x 8″, 2002). In my mid-thirties I finally stopped and looked at what my son (then about five-years-old) was drawing, right, and tried using my visual language to describe the characters I was seeing in his drawings. Out came a series of small baroque-looking monster portraits.
